Story Mode contains 13 randomized shifts. The sequence below is therefore an operating routine built from official actions, not a claim that Night 1 always presents them in this exact order.

Prepare for a first Story night

1. Locate the counter, stock, delivery, cleaning, computer, and defensive interaction areas as they appear in your current run.
2. Finish one station task at a time so an arriving customer does not interrupt several half-completed jobs.
3. Establish one repeatable customer-check order before pressure rises.
4. Keep paths through the station clear enough to move if the shift changes into survival.
5. In co-op, say the evidence aloud before one person makes the final call.

Verify customers without guessing

Xbox’s public description says each customer can be asked five questions. Both storefront descriptions also identify three other evidence channels: the ID, the computer record, and observable behavior.

Keep quota and fuel work in context

Official store text confirms gas-station management, nightly quota work, stocking, deliveries, cleaning, and customer service. What failure and retry mean publicly

The confirmed failure chain is narrow: if a doppelganger is missed and leaves, it can return later in that shift as a monster. The official response is to barricade, place traps, and hide. The captured public sources do not confirm checkpoint timing, save-slot behavior, retained money, or whether every failed encounter restarts at the same point.

After a failed attempt, note which check was skipped, which claim came from the current run, and which details were only assumed. That produces a useful next attempt without pretending the random shift has a universal script.
